About me
My name is Litzy Baeza and I use the pronouns (she/her).
I am Chilean, a descendent of the Mapuche and Araucaria people, the daughter of political exiles. I am an educator and consultant, with global and diverse experiences having worked in various academic institutions and organizations and having lived and worked in different countries; Chile, Mexico, and Cuba. My passion in the areas of equity, diversity, and inclusion, cross-cultural and intercultural communication has been evident in my work for over a decade.
I am passionate about safeguarding the history and culture of my community (Chilean) in Edmonton and across Canada and have spent over a decade working on various projects related to the Chilean exile experience.
I am currently writing a book about my experience working and living in Cuba…stay tuned. I live with my two Cuban dogs, Tuto and Japy who bring so much joy to my existence!

I have worked in the field of international education for the past 20 years managing a variety of projects overseas, primarily in Latin America. I teach a variety of courses at different universities and colleges across Canada and also develop curricula and programs related to GEDI. I have also helped to implement and develop GEDI strategies with various organizations across Canada and Internationally, being experienced in international development projects as a gender equity specialist.

International Development

Worked with the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) in Cuba helping to promote the inclusion of women in technical and vocational training for the Ministry of Mines and Energy.
Worked with Global Affairs Canada (GAC) in Colombia helping to train workers from the Ministry of Energy and Mines in implementing a gender mainstreaming strategy for the promotion of women in this industry.
TVET Institutional Strengthening Project in Cuba delivered by NAIT.
