Gender, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Education & Consulting

  • Hi, I’m Litzy Baeza (she/her).

I’m a Chilean educator and consultant, shaped by my roots in the Mapuche region, and by my family’s experience of exile. Those experiences have deeply influenced how I see the world, how I understand identity, resilience, and the importance of creating spaces where people feel seen, heard, and included.

For over a decade, I’ve worked at the intersection of gender equity, diversity and inclusion, and intercultural communication. My work has taken me across Chile, Mexico, Cuba, and Canada, collaborating with universities, organizations, and international projects. Across it all, one thing has stayed constant: helping people and systems navigate difference with greater awareness, care, and intention.

I’m especially passionate about translating complex ideas, whether in EDI or AI, into something people can actually understand and use in their everyday work. For me, it’s not just about strategy; it’s about impact, and making sure that impact is human-centred.

Outside of work, my life is shared with my two Cuban dogs, Tuto and Japy. They’re a daily reminder to stay grounded, present, and connected to what really matters.

  • With over 20 years of experience in international education and development, I work at the intersection of equity, learning, and systems change.

My background is rooted in Gender, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (GEDI), with work spanning Latin America, Africa, and Canada. I teach at universities and colleges across the country, and partner with organizations to design curriculum, lead training, and implement practical, context-driven GEDI strategies.

More recently, my work has expanded into ethical and responsible AI, bringing an equity lens to how organizations understand, adopt, and govern emerging technologies. I focus on helping non-technical teams build AI literacy while ensuring that systems are designed and used in ways that are inclusive, transparent, and human-centred.

    Core Areas of Expertise:

    • GEDI Training & Facilitation

    • Curriculum Development & Instructional Design

    • Strategic GEDI Implementation

    • Ethical & Responsible AI (Literacy, Training & Advisory)

    • AI Governance & Equity-Informed Approaches

    • International Development Project Management

    • Gender Mainstreaming & Training

  • A big part of my work is rooted in storytelling, especially the stories that don’t always get told.

For over a decade, I’ve been involved in projects that document and preserve the experiences of Chilean exiles. This work is deeply personal. It’s about memory, identity, and making sure these histories are not lost. In Edmonton and across Canada, I’ve contributed to creating spaces where these stories can be shared, honoured, and passed on.

I’m also currently working on a book inspired by my time living and working in Cuba. It’s a reflection on navigating a new culture, finding your place in unfamiliar spaces, and the lessons that come from stepping into the unknown, both personally and professionally.

    More to come soon.
